BRACKETS: 5 solid spruce supports with a volume of 2,907 cu. In.
(47.637 cm); Fir provides tensile strength with less weight. Maple pegs attach the braces to the soundboard producing a single homogeneous base upon which the entire tonal component is built. A cast iron treble bell, positioned at the bottom of the soundboard in the treble bend, holds the frame firmly in position by means of a steel bolt. The STEINWAY & SONS iron wedge anchors the ends of the brace securely to the cross block ensuring a permanent posture of the soundboard.
