SUSPENDERS
4 solid spruce stays with a volume of 1,995 cu. In.
($32,686 cm); Fir provides tensile strength with less weight. Maple pegs attach the braces to the soundboard producing a single homogeneous base upon which the entire tonal component is built. A cast iron treble bell, positioned at the bottom of the soundboard in the treble bend, holds the frame firmly in position by means of a steel bolt. The STEINWAY & SONS iron wedge anchors the ends of the brace securely to the cross block ensuring a permanent posture of the soundboard.
RIBS
Made of durable, resinous sugar pine, to ensure strong and constant support of the downward pressure of the strings on the soundboard; rib ends are hand tightened.
TUNING KEYS
Made of premium blued steel; Stainless, nickel-plated heads.
ROPES
Treble: Twelve full and half sizes made of high-strength Swedish steel.
Lows: Swedish steel core wound in copper wire
KEYS
European spruce, individually weighed. Chip-proof, smudge-resistant coverage for natural tones; non-slip, worn ebony for treble. Durable Linden wood buttons reinforce the
keys on the balance rail, allowing for maximum tonal power with each hit. Longest key: 21" (53.3 cm).
